Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on the attachment strategies people use in relationships. EFT acknowledges that people are naturally drawn to relationships and connection. EFT helps clients understand feelings, organize emotions, and change the way emotions are experienced in their relationships with self and other. Working with emotions helps alter the strategies we use to connect with others and cope with stress. I love that Emotionally Focused Therapy doesn’t focus on pathology but works on getting under the surface of our conflicts within ourselves self and with others. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy concepts and interventions in conjunction with those of Person-Centered Therapy, Systems Theory, and The Gottman Method to tailor therapy for each individual’s and relationship’s goals.
